Road trip to Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, Germany

Hey Everyone!  🙂 I am back with yet another post :):) I am so glad that i am getting time to blog these days and i really hope this continues 🙂 I had been to Germany about a month ago to catch up with family and friends in Hagen and Velbert. While we were planning to drive back to Holland post meet up in Velbert, my uncle suggested we make a quick trip to Koblenz 🙂 He was in all praise for Koblenz , that i thought i must make use of this opportunity and visit it during this trip itself. Koblenz was a 1 hour 45 minute drive from Velbert by road. The most important landmark and touristic attraction  in Koblenz is the Deutsches Eck, which is also known as the “German Corner” . The landmark is pretty impressive as you get to see the Mosel meet the Rhine. We reached the place and after a lot of struggle , we finally managed to park our car at the basement of a shopping mall . And then we walked for good 10 minutes to reach the Eck. On arrival, we saw this gigantic bronze  statue of the German Emperor Wilhem I which was apparently destroyed during the World War 2 and then rebuilt in early 90’s. We climbed up the stairs to get a birds eye view of the entire city.  The views from the Eck were breathtakingly beautiful ! I Just as we were enjoying the splendid views and posing for pictures, it started pouring heavily. We waited for a bit and then rushed into a restaurant and grabbed a  hot cup of tea 🙂 There are several restaurants and cute souvenir shops a few metres from the Eck 🙂 I really enjoyed my visit to this place and would highly recommend it if you have about 45 minutes to spare:) Oh by the way..we also spotted cable cars there on which you can get fantastic views of the place. However ,we decided to give it a miss! 🙂
